The Echo ES-250ES garden leaf blower and vacuum shredder features the Echo Easy Start system for effortless first pull starting, the grouped throttle, cruise control and stop functions are conveniently located on the top handle providing an easier, more comfortable operation. The exhaust port is located at the front of the blower, dissipating the heat away from the operator. The larger air intake and fan have been designed for improved efficiency with lower noise; the heavy duty air filter keeps dirt and debris away from vital engine components and maintains performance.
The ES-250ES garden leaf blower can easily be converted to a powerful garden vacuum shredder with the accessory PBAV-255 supplied as standard, featuring the new EZ locking system for hassle free, fast conversion. The hardened steel triple edged shredder blades are designed to provide long service and will efficiently reduce the collected volume by a 12:1 ratio, in ideal cases the material can then be composted for use later on borders and vegetable patches.

ECHO Shred 'N' Vac®…Blow It! Shred It! Bag It!
Blow It! Shred It! Bag It! It's that easy with Echo's versatile Shred 'N' Vac. It turns garden debris into mulch fast. Garden mulch has numerous benefits. Along with the cost savings of making your own, mulch blocks weed seeds from sunlight so they do not germinate; mulch promotes better water retention; mulch provides needed nutrients as it decomposes over time, and moderates soil temperatures.
With the power to reduce a volume of leaves, twigs, grass and other debris by a ratio of up to 12:1, Echo's Power Boost Vortex™ engine combined with a patented shredding mechanism make quick work of your garden work. A 35" long intake tube minimises stooping and the large two bushel capacity bag minimises emptying. The Shred 'N' Vac is actually two tools in one – a blower and a vacuum/shredder. Each model includes the tubes necessary for quick conversion between either application.

PURCHASING ECHO PRODUCTS
ECHO products come equipped with a range of unique product features designed to deliver ease and comfort for users.
ECHO is successful in producing low vibration and low noise for power tools and are leaders in two-stroke power tool emission technology. ECHO Bear Cat products come with a host of features and are renowned for their unmatched performance and quality construction.
Leading in two-stroke power tool emission technology
ECHO has the widest variety of emission compliant engines ever certified for EPA, CARB regulations and EU directives. ECHO has condensed the years of development in the USA into the trademarked Power Boost Tornado technology, with a highly refined two-stroke engine design. This technology is now applied across the ECHO Power Tool range, with engines delivering more power, higher fuel efficiency and better engine lubrication, while improving combustion and reducing exhaust emissions.
Low Vibration
ECHO has taken up the challenge and is successfully producing measures for maximum control of vibration. ECHO products are designed and manufactured for constant and lengthy use by professional users, with homeowners/domestic users also able to enjoy the benefits of commercial quality and features. Under independent tests, ECHO brush cutters and ECHO hedge cutters have produced the lowest vibration figures. ECHO is one of very few manufacturers who make its own engines, therefore every ECHO product is designed and tested as a completed package. This ensures high quality, ergonomically designed equipment, with maximum vibration controls.
Low Noise
With power tool equipment in use in public and residential areas, noise is of primary concern, ECHO has developed the technology to control and minimise noise pollution. ECHO designs and manufactures engines from scratch, matching low noise engines to low vibration products, by retaining complete manufacturing control.
ECHO Innovation - i-start
The i-start device makes first time starting of two-stroke engines a certainty, while removing 90% of the effort required. i-start stores the energy of one long and gentle pull, or two short pulls of the recoil starter and delivers it in a dynamic burst that starts the engine every time.
ECHO Innovation - Easy Start
Denoted by the ES symbol on the power tool, Easy Start works in a different way to i-start to minimise the effort required to start the engine. With Easy Start the pulling power needed on the starter rope is greatly reduced compared to other makes, with no kick-back effect when cranking.
A little back-story first... I had a Poulen vacuum/mulching/bagger/blower that served me well for fifteen years of HARD use (two large properties to maintain with lots of trees). I was really bummed when it finally died and disappointed that they didn't make one anything like it anymore, as I would have bought another in a heartbeat. I've been a mechanic for almost 30 years now and am REALLY picky when it comes to this type of equipment, so finding a new one I liked was a frustrating endeavor. I bought a Ryobi at first which looked like it was going to be a nice piece and I've had excellent service from Ryobi equipment before. I'll spare you the long and agonizing horror story around that unit. In a nutshell, it was a quirky starter and if you didn't get it perfect the first time, it would flood immediately and you'd have to pull the plug, clean it, and try again. Once running, blowing power was "adequate", but vibration was awful! It would start to put my hands to sleep after five minutes or so. OK for blowing off the driveway, but I'd never tolerate a couple hours of blowing leaves with that thing, so back to the store it went. My brother, who owns a landscaping business, told me to quit screwing around and buy an Echo. I balked at first, since it was double the price of the Ryobi, but he assured me it was worth the up-front expense. So I bought the ES-250. It started easily right out of the box and was clearly smoother and more powerful than the Ryobi. It did have an issue where it didn't run well if the tank was less than half-full. A quick trip to the authorized service center down the street and I found out that there was a service bulletin on it for a mis-routed fuel line (mine was a very early production model). They fixed it quickly and no more problems since. The engine feels smooth and powerful even to a 30-year mechanic. It starts easily EVERY time! Vibration is low and blowing power is excellent. Noise level is average in my opinion (the Ryobi was actually quieter). It feels like a well made piece in every way. In vacuum/mulch/bag mode, it's a powerhouse! It easily picks up even piles of damp compacted leaves without a hiccup and mulches them much finer than my old Poulen, even though the Poulen boasted a higher mulch ratio. It does get heavy after awhile as the bag fills, but no more so than any other unit of this type. Now here's the part where I pick nits (as I'm known to do). The shoulder strap that supports the bag is kind of narrow and thin, so it starts to dig into your shoulder as the bag fills, especially if you have ALOT of leaves to vacuum. A pad would be a welcome addition, but those are easy to come by so I'll be adding one before the next bout of leaf vacuuming. The bag is also a little awkward to empty because of the zipper placement (my old Poulen was much easier because the zipper was right on the end of the bag). And finally, since it does require a tool to remove the discharge tube when changing from vacuuming to blowing and vice-versa, it wouldn't have killed them to include some kind of key that would clip to the blower somewhere to release that tube. Perhaps something that would pull out of the handle or clip to the power unit somewhere so you don't have to keep a screwdriver in your pocket or walk back to the garage every time. I'll probably tether something to the blower and add a little plastic clip to hold it so it's always handy. So all in all, even a nit-picky person like me can find little to complain about with this unit and those few complaints are truly small ones. The FIVE YEAR MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY doesn't hurt my feelings any either. Overall, very happy with the purchase. Here's hoping I don't have to do it again for another fifteen years! ;-} (
